A White Blank Page and a Swelling Rage
To Whom It May Concern:
You can stop now. You know...reporting the links to We Will Not Go Quietly as abuse or spam? Or reporting it to Blogger as abuse/spam?
I appreciate that you want to try and contain this story. If I were you, I'd want to limit the exposure, too. And to your credit, I will admit that it touched a nerve when people kept telling me that they would just get a blank page when they tried to access my post, We Will Not Go Quietly. (No link this time because I wouldn't want this post to disappear as well. But you can easily find it over there on the sidebar.)
Unfortunately for you, though, it's out there. How out there? Let's take a look at the numbers that I have so far (which might not be very impressive to all you cool kids out there but they sure are big for this little blog):
We Will Not Go Quietly has been "liked" 327 times.
We Will Not Go Quietly has been "shared" 330 times.
We Will Not Go Quietly has been retweeted by people with thousands of followers.
We Will Not Go Quietly has been visited over 10,000 times. And probably only half of those were my mom.
Trying to disable the links on Facebook and blogger is kind of pointless now.
That's the thing about the internet. Once it's out there, it's out there.
Kind of like puppy ads.
Or Facebook posts.
Or "press releases." You know...the ones that list our names, our kids' names, our locations, our kids' medical diagnoses and the fact that they're prone to wandering. You know the one I'm talking about? That one that no one gave consent to being published? The one that was posted on that *cough* soda company *cough* website for so long as promotional material. That one.
The media has already seen all this. There have already been news reports. And let me be clear. There are more coming. Soon.
And guess what? Freedom of Speech is still protected last time I checked. Especially when it's the truth.
So while spam reports about our posts might keep people from sharing it from the button up there at the top, it only lasts for a few hours. And then it's fixed.
So if I were you, I'd just take a break from all of this. Because if nothing else? It really just kinda makes you look guiltier.
Sincerely,
An Autism Mama Who's Not Going Quietly
Title of this post was totally stolen from one of my favorite songs:
